In Indiana, traditional energy sources include coal, oil, and natural gas. There is presently, however, much interest in locally produced energy sources that can reduce reliance on energy that originates outside of Indiana. Wind, solar and biomass are all examples of locally produced energy sources. An emerging form of biomass is dedicated energy crops such as switchgrass and miscanthus giganteus.
